Martin Donaghy

Consultant

Martin was educated at Christian Brothers Grammar School in Omagh. Having graduated in Law, he attended the Institute of Legal Studies at Queen’s University Belfast and began his legal career in 1984 with Mallon and Haughey Solicitors Dungannon.

In 1986 he joined with Francis Rafferty Solicitor and they went on to establish the very successful practice of Rafferty and Donaghy solicitors Dungannon, where Martin was a partner for over 30 years.

A qualified mediator during his career, he dealt with all areas of law in a busy general rural practice, including many high profile criminal and civil cases. He successfully brought cases to both the House of Lords and the European Court of Human Rights. We are delighted that, having recently retired, Martin has joined our team as a consultant solicitor.

Martin is a keen runner and has completed over 35 marathons and numerous ultra marathons, including a 100 miles trail run.

Martin has always had an interest in farming, breeding pedigree Charolais cattle and serving as chairman of the British Charolais Cattle Society. He is currently Treasurer of the local Charolais club.

He holds a Class 1 HGV licence and has recently been tutored by his 90 year old mother in the art of baking soda bread!
